This year's 36th Annual Rough Rider Marching Contest will be held Saturday 5 October 2019 at Heroes Stadium. We think you'll find that we go the extra mile to make this a valuable and pleasant experience for everyone. As most of you know, Heroes Stadium is also the site of the Region 12 UIL 5A/6A Marching Contest, and we set up the logistics of Rough Rider Marching Contest exactly like the UIL Marching Contest. Needless to say, this is a terrific way to familiarize you and your Band with not only the logistics, but the sound, balance, and visual presentation in Heroes Stadium.

General Admission is $7, Students $5, age 5 and under are free.

We have a fantastic judging panel made up of seasoned educators who will give you a fair and honest evaluation that will help you through the rest of the marching season. Our 2019 judges are:

Band Judges:

Glenn Richter, University of Texas

Kenny Capshaw, Univeristy of Texas at El Paso

Beth Bronk, Texas Lutheran University

Color Guard Judge:

Michael Fairbrother, Lehman High School

Percussion Judge:

Ben Pyles, University of Texas at San Antonio

Trophies are awarded in every classification for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Bands, Outstanding Horn Line, Outstanding Battery Percussion, Outstanding Sideline Ensemble, Outstanding Soloists, and Outstanding Color Guard; plus Participation Plaques for every Band.

Please encourage your students' family members to attend. Heroes Stadium is a beautiful venue that really showcases your band's look and sound. We have delicious mesquite-grilled burgers, hot dogs, and sausage wraps, plus a wide variety of drinks and snacks. This is a great Band Festival atmosphere that your students and their families will enjoy. The TR Band will provide a free meal to all Directors, bus drivers, and truck drivers. This year again, we will be hosting the Director's Skybox Lounge where we will serve cold drinks, snacks, air conditioning and of course a spectacular view of the contest!
